The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club have moved close to winning two trophies in the 2016/2-17 season after qualifying for the Uganda Cup final on Tuesday.
Coach Mike Hillary Mutebi’s team who retained the Azam Uganda League champions held Express FC to a goalless draw at the Wankulukuku Stadium in the second leg of the semi final to qualify on a 3-2 goal aggregate.
The two sides missed some good scoring chances, but KCCA FC made sure they did not let in any goals to qualify for the final “We are happy we have made it to a Uganda Cup final and have the chance of bagging two trophies,” said KCCA FC captain Denis Okot.
KCCA FC will now face second Division (Big League) side, Paidha Black Angels FC who ejected Sadalin Paints FC 3-2 on aggregate last weekend. The final will be played in the northern district of Arua on June 10th at the Betway Green Light Stadium
In-case KCCA FC win the Uganda Cup as well they will be left to choose between representing Uganda in the 2018 CAF Total Champions League or CAF Total Confederations Cup. SC Villa who finished second in the Azam Uganda Premier League also have a chance to play in continental next season if KCCA FC win and opt for the Champions League.
